Local Koh Phangan Trips
Although often overlooked in the guide books (which tend to focus almost exclusively on Koh Tao), Koh Phangan offers some superb local sites for diving, snorkelling and swimming.
The most popular sites such as Mae Haad/Koh Maa, Haad Yao and Haad Salad are located around the north west corner of the island, although there are numerous other areas of interest when conditions are favourable.
As the majority of local sites tend rarely to reach below 12m in depth, they are ideal for beginners, and also experienced divers who wish to enjoy a long, relaxed dive, without the inconvenience which sometimes comes with long boat trips.
Although water clarity around Koh Phangan may not always match that of the local Koh Tao sites, abundance and variety of marine life easily matches or even surpasses that of its highly publicised neighbour.
There is huge diversity of marine life to experience around the coastline of Koh Phangan with numerous species of Grouper, Barracuda, Angelfish and Butterflyfish present at all locations.
Add to those some of the smaller, or more curious species such as Gobies, Cuttlefish, Octopus, Razorfish and Tuskfish and you will find that Koh Phangan really is a hidden gem in Thailand's dive site portfolio...
This section covers the most popular areas of Mae Haad/Koh Ma, Haad Yao and Haad Salad, although other areas of interest may be added in the future.
Please note that due to seasonal changes in conditions, local diving is not always possible. Please contact us for honest advice regarding suitability.
