Tag: Blue-Speckled Shrimp Goby (Cryptocentrus Caeruleomaculatus)

At first glance the Blue-Speckled Shrimp Goby (Cryptocentrus Caeruleomaculatus) appears similar to the very common Target Shrimpgoby (Cryptocentrus Strigilliceps).

On closer inspection you can see that unlike those of the Target Shrimpgoby, the large dark spots along the body of the Blue-Speckled Shrimpgobygoby are aligned horizontally.

It also has the blue "speckles" and red coloured markings around the head, although these appear brown at depth making them look similar to those of the Target Shrimpgoby.

The fairly common Blue-Speckled Shrimp Goby (Cryptocentrus caeruleomaculatus) is easy to find at locations such as Mae Haad/Koh Ma reef (where this individual was photographed).
